How to Activate SBI Debit Card through Internet Banking
This method is ultimate for SBI net banking users. If you activate your debit card through SBI net banking, you no need to visit the bank at all for the activation of your debit/ATM card.
Steps to activate SBI ATM card in Internet Banking
- Log in to SBI net banking using Username & Password.
- Click on the e-Services as seen on the screen below.
- Next, you need to click on the link “ATM Card Services”.
- Here, click on the link “ATM PIN Generation”
- For authentication, you can use either OTP or Profile Password.
- Enter the OTP received on your RMN
- Here, you need to select both the account number as well as the card number for which you want to activate the debit card.
- Now, you need to enter the half PIN i.e 2-digit at your end, and hit the Submit button.
- Enter the 2-digit PIN chosen by you followed by a 2-digit PIN received in your Registered Mobile Number.
For example, if you choose 30 as your 2-digit PIN and receive 59 as a 2-digit PIN in your mobile number then your Debit Card PIN is 3059.
In this way, you can easily generate the PIN and activate the SBI Debit card in SBI Internet Banking online mode.

How to Activate SBI Debit Card using SBI ATM
Trust me, this is the most suitable method for many SBI customers to activate SBI debit cards. This is one of the most convenient ways to get your debit/ATM card PIN. To activate the SBI Debit card using the SBI ATM machine you need to visit one of the SBI ATMs.
Steps to activate SBI debit card in SBI ATM
- Insert the card gently into the machine and you’ll get an option to generate the PIN.
- Next, you need to enter the details of your Bank Account and the Registered Mobile Number associated with that card.
- After that, you’ll get a One Time PIN in your RMN.
- Now using that PIN you can set your new PIN that was chosen by you.
That’s it. In this way, by following the above very simple steps you can generate the PIN and activate the SBI debit or ATM card in SBI ATM.
How to Activate SBI Debit Card through IVR
IVR stands for Interactive Voice Response. Again this is one of the efficient ways to get and activate SBI debit card. To get this feature, you must have a mobile number registered with SBI.
Steps to activate SBI debit card through IVR
- Call or from your Registered Mobile Number.
- The IVR system will ask you to enter the ATM card number (new) followed by your Account Number.
- If you enter the details correctly a 4-digit pin will be sent to your RMN.
- Next, visit one of the ATMs of SBI.
- Insert the card into the machine and enter the 4-digit PIN received on your RMN through IVR.
- Now you can set a new PIN for your Debit card.
- After the PIN change is successfully, your card will be ready for use.

SBI has another feature to activate the debit or ATM card by SMS. For this, you must have a registered mobile number with the bank.

- Type PIN <space> last 4 digits of Debit Card <space> Last 4-digit of Account Number.

- Next, you’ll receive a 4-digit code on your registered mobile number. That code will be valid for the next 24 hours.
- Next, visit one of the ATMs of SBI.
- Insert the card into the machine and enter the 4-digit PIN received on your RMN through SMS.
- Now you can set a new PIN for your Debit card.
- After the PIN change is successfully, your card will be ready for use.
